The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) today, Tuesday 21st October 2025, hosted a courtesy call meeting between its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. K.K. Mutai, and a delegation from the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), led by Chairman of Pak–Kenya Business Council of FPCCI Khalil Paracha. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral trade and investment relations between Kenya and Pakistan through deeper collaboration between the two chambers.

Discussions centered on advancing business-to-business linkages, expanding trade volumes, and identifying investment opportunities in key growth sectors including agriculture, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and construction materials. Both sides expressed a strong commitment to promoting mutual trade interests by organizing joint trade missions, business forums, and exhibitions aimed at enhancing market access and partnership development between enterprises from both nations.

The meeting also emphasized the importance of operationalizing the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between KNCCI and FPCCI. This will be achieved through the establishment of a joint working framework to implement SME capacity-building initiatives, facilitate information sharing, and support the growth of cross-border enterprises.

As a way forward, the two chambers agreed to form a joint working group that will coordinate upcoming trade engagements, exchange trade and investment data, and identify priority sectors for collaboration.

The engagement reaffirmed the mutual commitment of KNCCI and FPCCI to strengthen commercial cooperation and promote long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships between the business communities of Kenya and Pakistan — paving the way for enhanced bilateral trade and sustainable economic growth.

The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) today hosted H.E. Abdusalom Khatamov, the first Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Kenya, in a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening trade and investment ties between the two countries.

The meeting, led by KNCCI President Dr. Erick Rutto, focused on exploring avenues of collaboration by leveraging the strategic geographic positioning of both nations. Uzbekistan was highlighted as a gateway to Central Asia, with access to neighboring markets such as Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan—offering significant opportunities for Kenyan exports.

Dr. Rutto noted that horticultural products such as tea, coffee, and cut flowers present a strong export potential for Kenya in the Central Asian region. He emphasized the importance of diversifying export markets and taking advantage of Uzbekistan’s strategic location to expand Kenya’s trade footprint.

On his part, Ambassador Khatamov reiterated Uzbekistan’s commitment to fostering closer bilateral trade relations with Kenya. He expressed optimism that increased collaboration between the business communities of the two countries would unlock new opportunities for growth and shared prosperity.

The discussions also touched on areas where Kenya could benefit from Uzbekistan’s expertise, particularly in mining and textiles, sectors in which Uzbekistan has developed strong technical capacity. Both parties agreed to task their teams with identifying specific areas of synergy that would form the basis of future cooperation.

Dr. Rutto further underscored KNCCI’s role in creating linkages for Kenyan businesses and facilitating market access through strategic partnerships. He welcomed the Ambassador’s visit as a milestone in expanding Kenya’s international trade partnerships beyond traditional markets.

KNCCI and the Embassy of Uzbekistan will continue working closely to design frameworks for collaboration, with a focus on trade missions, knowledge sharing, and investment opportunities.

Also present was Special advisor in the Office of the President Anne Lagat, Consul Embassy of Uzbekistan Jurabek Latifjonov and KNCCI National Director Ken Onditi.
