KNCCI President Dr. Erick Rutto held a fruitful meeting with H.E. Mr. SAVVAS VLADIMEROU High Commissioner of Cyprus to Kenya, to explore opportunities for enhanced bilateral cooperation in trade and investment.
H.E. Vladimirou recognized Kenya’s strategic position in Africa, citing its natural resources, skilled workforce, and infrastructure growth as key attractions for Cypriot investors. Sectors of mutual interest include tourism, blue economy, shipping, financial services, metals, and medical goods.
Drawing from Cyprus’ success—growing tourist arrivals from 2 to 6 million through airport privatization—the High Commissioner shared insights that could help shape Kenya’s tourism transformation.
He also relayed concerns from European businesses regarding the unpredictability of Kenya’s tax policies, underlining the importance of a stable, transparent regulatory environment to encourage sustainable foreign direct investment.
As a step forward, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry will sign an MoU with KNCCI laying the foundation for structured collaboration. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for later this month to define an actionable roadmap.
This marks the beginning of a promising partnership aimed at unlocking new business opportunities between Cyprus and Kenya.
