Chamber Vice President Mustafa Ramadhan hosted H.E Erika Álvarez Rodríguez (Dominican Republic ambassador to Kenya & South Africa) who paid a courtesy call to KNCCI to explore potential areas of mutual collaboration between our two countries.
She presented several sectors that offer opportunities for Kenyan investors wishing to set up base in the country as to access the United States, Central America, Caribbean and EU market.
This is as the Dominican Republic enjoys preferential market access following existing treaties and agreements including the Free Trade Area agreement with USA & Central Africa (DR-CAFTA), Economic Partnership Agreement European Union (EPA) – CARIFORUM and UK – CARIFORUM.
Kenya can collaborate with the Dominican Republic in various sectors including: Tourism, Energy, Mining, Finance and telecommunications where both countries have growing sectors.
Among incentives for investors in the country include: exemption from national and municipal taxes up to 100% on (Income Tax (ISR), Value Added Tax (ITBIS), Import taxes, Selective tax on insurance, fuel, among others.
