On 9th June 2025, the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) led by Chamber President Dr Erick Rutto, Pauline Mugo, Chair Kirinyaga County and Mwenda Mwita, Chair Kitui County signed a Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding with the Hunan Shenyi Mechanical Application Research Institute Co., Ltd. and the Hunan Certification and Accreditation Association (XCAA) in Changsha, China.

The collaboration aims to conduct a joint feasibility study on promoting and sharing experiences on Chinese technical standards in Kenya’s construction machinery and parts sector.

The initiative will support Kenya’s infrastructure development and benchmarks, including the “Xiangjiang Quality” certification.

The cooperation will include the establishment of a China–Kenya Joint Research Center for Technical Standards, the development of a localized quality certification system and the creation of a regional model for the overseas application of Chinese standards

The MoU was signed by Dr. Erick Rutto, President of KNCCI, You Xiaoping, President of Hunan Shenyi Mechanical Application Research Institute Co., Ltd. and Liu Kunxiang, President of Hunan Certification and Accreditation Association (XCAA), through coordination of KNCCI China Office
