The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) this evening hosted a high-level delegation from the State Government of Haryana, India, led by H.E. Mr. Shyam Singh Rana, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
The Chamber team was led by Mr. David Mpatiany, KNCCI National Director for South Rift, Mr. Shadrack Kiprono, Deputy Chair of the Economic Diplomacy Committee, and Mr. K.K. Mutai, Ag. Chief Executive Officer.
The visiting delegation, comprising both government officials and private investors, is in Kenya from 9th to 13th October 2025 to explore opportunities for investment in the country’s agriculture sector. As part of the program, the delegation will undertake a field visit to Narok County on 10th or 12th October, where they will engage with local stakeholders and assess areas of potential collaboration.
The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral agricultural cooperation between Kenya and India, building on the commitments made during President Dr. William Samoei Ruto’s State Visit to India in December 2023. During that visit, both countries issued a joint statement affirming their commitment to strengthen cooperation in agriculture.
In the joint statement, Kenya offered to provide land to Indian companies and institutions for the cultivation of crops such as millet, while the Government of India pledged to encourage Indian firms to invest in Kenya’s agricultural sector, particularly in equipment, technology transfer, and capacity building.
KNCCI reaffirmed its readiness to facilitate linkages between Kenyan and Indian investors, emphasizing the Chamber’s mandate to promote trade and investment partnerships that contribute to Kenya’s economic growth.
The KNCCI Narok Chapter is spearheading coordination efforts and engagements between local agricultural investors and their Indian counterparts to ensure the success of the visit and to explore mutually beneficial projects that can enhance productivity, value addition, and food security.
The meeting underscored KNCCI’s ongoing commitment to economic diplomacy and its role in bridging international partnerships that drive investment, innovation, and inclusive growth in Kenya’s key sectors, including agriculture.
