KNCCI Chief Executive Officer, Mr. KK Mutai, today paid a courtesy visit to the Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA) offices, accompanied by Mr. Simon Nyaga, Chairman of the KNCCI Diaspora Committee, and Director Stephen Mbugua. The visit focused on exploring areas of collaboration between KNCCI and EPZA aimed at strengthening Kenya’s trade and investment ecosystem.
Key areas of discussion included joint interventions to enhance supply and value chains within the agro-processing sector, with a particular emphasis on driving wealth creation, improving market access, and generating sustainable employment opportunities for local farmers. The parties also explored opportunities to leverage EPZ infrastructure and incentives to support agro-based enterprises and attract both local and diaspora investments.
In his remarks, EPZA Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Richard Omelu, noted that agro-processing remains the second most dominant sector within the EPZ programme. He emphasized that the Authority is actively and aggressively promoting the development of stronger backward linkages to ensure greater participation of local producers and SMEs in export-oriented value chains.
