KNCCI China Office was honoured to host H.E. Hon. Simon Kachapin Kitalei, Governor of West Pokot County, alongside senior county leadership including the Chief of Staff and the County Speaker, during a high-level business and study mission in China focused on trade, technological innovation, industrial learning and infrastructure development. Under the KNCCI China Office Chief Representative, Fredrick Mukilya, the visit formed part of a broader effort to expose county leadership to practical models that can support local economic transformation, investment promotion, and long-term development partnerships.
During the tour, the delegation participated in a series of business visits and strategic engagements across key sectors. These included visits to the CAETE Permanent Exhibition Hall and Demonstration Park, AISN Car Design Company, Haiping International (Hunan) Medical Device Industrial Park and INFORE ENVIRO in Changsha, as well as industrial exposure visits related to mineral ore processing operations in Chenzhou. These engagements provided valuable insights into trade platforms, automotive innovation, healthcare manufacturing, environmental technology and industrial operational practices.
For West Pokot County, this kind of international exposure is important. As a county with strong potential in agriculture, natural resources, cross-border trade, tourism and investment development, West Pokot stands to benefit greatly from strategic partnerships that can unlock enterprise growth, attract investors, expand market linkages and strengthen local value addition. The visit marks an important step toward positioning West Pokot more strongly in regional and international investment discussions.

Through its presence in China, KNCCI continues to support counties and Kenyan institutions in investment promotion, facilitation and attraction by creating direct links with Chinese businesses, industrial parks, manufacturers, trade platforms and strategic partners. This support includes business matchmaking, market exposure, institutional engagement and practical learning visits that help counties identify bankable opportunities and build partnerships that can translate into jobs, trade and sustainable development back in Kenya.
We thank H.E. Hon. Simon Kachapin Kitalei and the West Pokot delegation for the opportunity to host and engage them, and we look forward to continued collaboration in advancing county-level trade, investment and development cooperation between Kenya and China.
