Athi River- Nairobi 14th September, 2021

Today Afternoon, the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Livestock Sector Committee paid a courtesy visit to the Kenya Meat Commission headquarters in Athi River, Nairobi. The team was led by 2nd Chamber Vice President Ms. Fatma Elmaawy, accompanied by the Chamber Livestock Sector Chairman Director Omarsadik Mohammed, KNCCI Isiolo Chapter Chairnan Mr. Hussien Jama and Chamber Chief Executive Officer Mr. Samuel Matonda.

The Chamber team was received for a meeting by the Kenya Meat Commission management spearheaded by the Managing Commissioner Brigadier James Githaga, with the main agenda of discussing on how to create a vibrant livestock sector.

The meeting focused on how to bridge the information gap in the meat sector, production of quality meat to the export standards, as well as the KMC strategies of dealing with the current drought being experienced in some parts of the country.

It was resolved that annual meat forums be held, alongside holding of foreign trade missions where KMC and KNCCI are to participate.

A suggestion for partnership between KMC and KNCCI to support education and sensitization of locals on hygiene standards was also tabled.

In attendance were; Colonel Maluki- procurement Manager, Dr. Cyril Cheruiyot- Livestock Manager, Lydia Malinda- Sales and Marketing Manager and Abubakar Mahamood KNCCI Livestock Officer.
