This morning, the high-level business forum took place, featuring the opening ceremony graced by H.E. Prof. Petr Fiala, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, who is currently on a 3-day official visit to Kenya.During his remarks, he expressed his positive impressions of Kenya’s vibrant economy and expressed a strong interest in enhancing economic cooperation between the two nations. He also highlighted the Kenya-EU bilateral agreement, in which the Czech Republic is a participating party, emphasizing that it will serve as a gateway for closer ties between the two countries. Furthermore, he pledged support from his country in sectors such as geothermal energy, water management, and special cooperation in space research.

The Chamber President, Dr. Erick Rutto, warmly welcomed the delegation and addressed several key points;

  • The Chamber’s commitment to addressing the trade imbalance between the two countries.
  • Kenya’s role as a gateway to one of the world’s largest economic blocs, providing business intelligence information across key sectors, including ICT and technology, pharmaceutical production, housing, and infrastructure.
  • Plans for KNCCI to organize an outbound trade mission to the Czech Republic in April/May 2024.

Additionally, KNCCI, in collaboration with other strategic partners, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Mr. Jan Rafaj, President of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic and Head of the Business Delegation accompanying the Prime Minister. The MOU outlined three priority areas, including trade and investment, education, and skills exchange.

Among the attendees were Czech Republic Ambassador Nicol Adamcova, KEPSA Economic Diplomacy Chairman, Keninvest MD, EPZA, PS Investment Dr. Juma Mukwana, and members of the KNCCI business community and technical teams.
