On 16th July 2025, Fortis Medical Training College—a member of KNCCI Kirinyaga Chapter—signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CareGate Corporation (Japan) to open international job opportunities for Kenyan youth in Japan’s healthcare sector.
This landmark partnership was initiated after Fortis participated in a high-level forum organized by KNCCI in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Japan at Serena Hotel. It was during this forum that Fortis networked with CareGate Corporation, paving the way for this strategic international collaboration.
The MoU aims to expand job opportunities for Kenyan youth while strengthening the local healthcare sector. As part of the agreement, CareGate will train Fortis students in the Japanese language alongside caregiving skills, preparing them for professional placement in Japan’s healthcare system.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Dr. George Karanja (KNCCI Central Region Director), and attended by the KNCCI Kirinyaga Board of Directors, County Government officials, CareGate delegates, KAHSA, private health stakeholders, and Fortis students.
Key highlights included praise from KNCCI Kirinyaga Chair Madam Pauline Wangeci for Fortis’ engagement with KNCCI platforms and a commitment of support from CEC Youth & Gender, Madam Milicent Ngari.
This MoU marks a major step in international healthcare collaboration and youth empowerment for Kirinyaga County.
