This morning, KNCCI President Dr. Erick Rutto led a delegation in a productive meeting with Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Customs Department officials to discuss the implementation of Section 44A of the Tax Procedures Act (Finance Act 2025). Effective July 1, 2025, all consignments imported into Kenya must be accompanied by a Certificate of Origin issued by a competent authority in the exporting country.The meeting addressed key aspects of the verification process and challenges hindering seamless enforcement of this directive. Discussions also emphasized strengthening the export market through enhanced collaboration.

Combating Counterfeit Certificates of Origin: Collaborative measures to ensure robust verification processes and prevent fraudulent certificates, safeguarding the integrity of import documentation.
 

Adoption of eTIMS Invoices: Exporters to use eTIMS invoices instead of traditional commercial invoices to streamline processes and enhance transparency.
 
Integration with Single Window Portal: Advocating for a unified single window portal to simplify and expedite the verification of export documentation, fostering efficiency and compliance.
