The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) hosted a pivotal meeting with representatives from Interpeace at the KNCCI offices. The discussion, steered by Chamber Vice President Mustapha Ramadan, centered on the instrumental role the private sector can play in advancing peace initiatives.

Key Highlights:

  • Private Sector as Peace Mediator: The potential of the private sector in acting as a bridge between conflicting parties was acknowledged, given its non-partisan nature and interest in stability
  • Economic Rehabilitation: Emphasis was placed on how the private sector can contribute to rebuilding post-conflict economies through infrastructure and business investments.
  • Collaboration: The importance of partnerships between businesses, local communities, and peace organizations like Inter Peace in driving forward peace initiatives was underlined.

Interpeace visited Rwanda earlier this month for benchmarking reasons to understand post conflict building and cohesion. They also visited various government stakeholders during their visit to Kenya.

Both KNCCI and Interpeace recognized the mutual benefits of a collaborative approach and are looking forward to joint initiatives in the future.
